Netflix has announced that it intends to turn one of the biggest Bitcoin-related financial crimes in history into a documentary.
In 2016, 120,000 bitcoins were stolen from the Bitfinex exchange. The film will explore the heist and its aftermath, with interviews from those on both sides of the theft.
The film is expected to be released in 2020. The 120,000 Bitcoin Bitfinex Heist will be turned into a Netflix documentary. The film will recount the story of the theft and its aftermath, including the criminal investigation and recovery efforts.
In April of 2016, one of the world’s largest Bitcoin exchanges, Bitfinex, was hacked for 120,000 Bitcoins. The theft is still unsolved and the documentary will take a deep dive into what happened that day.
A press release from February 11th reads that:
